Children's Privacy
A note for grown-ups
ParkerJoe is a children's clothing brand. We make and sell things kids wear, but our store, our marketing, and our digital experiences are designed to be used by parents, guardians, and gift-giving adults — not by children themselves.
This page explains, in plain language, the steps we take to protect children's privacy under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and our broader commitment to handling family data with care.
What we don't do
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- We do not ask for a child's first name, last name, school, photo, date of birth, address, or phone number anywhere on this site.
- We do not use child-facing imagery to invite children to fill in forms, sign up for newsletters, or create accounts.
- We do not share family data with third parties for advertising beyond the strict-minimum service providers listed below.
What we do collect
When an adult places an order or creates an account, we collect:
- The adult's name, email, billing address, shipping address, payment details (handled by Shopify, our PCI-compliant payment processor), and order history.
- Optional size range for the recipient — for example, “size 6” or “4T”. A size range is not a personal identifier.
- Optional gift recipient first name, when an adult chooses to add a gift note. Gift recipient names are stored only on the order, are not used for marketing, and are deleted on the same retention schedule as the order itself.
Verifiable parental consent
The parent or legal guardian creating an account must affirm, on the sign-up form, that they are at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian responsible for any recipient under 13. We rely on this affirmation as our COPPA-compliant consent mechanism for the limited, parent-controlled data we collect (name, email, address, order history, size range).
If you are not 18 or are not the parent or legal guardian, please do not create an account. If we learn that an account has been created contrary to this rule, we will delete it.
The AI Style Lounge (planned — not yet live)
We are building an AI Style Lounge that will use Anthropic's Claude language model to give style guidance. It is not yet available. When it launches, it will be limited to logged-in adult account holders, and before any message reaches Claude our server-side proxy will: (1) strip any text that resembles a child's first or last name, date, address, or school; (2) refuse to forward conversations that request or would require personal identifying information about a minor; and (3) log only redacted prompts for service-quality review, retained for 30 days, then deleted. Claude will never see, store, or train on your child's identifying information. This section will be updated when the feature goes live.
Marketing
- Adults can opt in to email or SMS updates. Opt-in is off by default.
- We never target advertising at children.
- We do not run retargeting pixels that would profile a child's web browsing.
Service providers
We use a small number of service providers, each contractually required to protect children's data:
- Shopify — store hosting, checkout, order management.
- Seguno — adult-only email and SMS marketing (when opted in).
- Growave — product reviews, wishlist, and loyalty (adult account holders).
- Google Analytics — site analytics, configured with IP anonymization on and advertising features off.
- Shipping carriers — fulfillment of physical orders.
Your rights
Parents and guardians can, at any time:
- Review the personal information we have on file by emailing privacy@parkerjoe.com from the email address on the account.
- Ask us to delete an account and all associated data. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe from marketing in one click.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle family data, we will post the change on this page and email account holders.
