Privacy policy

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

ParkerJoe LLC ("ParkerJoe", "we", "us") is a children's clothing boutique. We have stores in Houston (Rice Village), Sugar Land and The Woodlands, Texas, and in Las Vegas, Nevada, and we sell online at parkerjoe.com.

This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you:

  • visit or shop on parkerjoe.com, or create a customer account;
  • shop in one of our stores;
  • use our AI Style Lounge;
  • RSVP to one of our events;
  • apply for a job with us; or
  • contact us by email, chat, phone or our contact forms.

Our website and services are intended for adults. For how we handle information that relates to children, see our Children's Privacy page, which is part of this policy.

Some services we link to have their own privacy policies — for example, the Shop app, Shop Pay and PayPal, and Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Google when you use their apps or websites.

2. The short version

  • We collect what you give us (for example, when you order, create an account, chat with us, RSVP or apply for a job), what our stores record when you buy, and information collected automatically when you use our website.
  • We use it to sell and deliver products, run our membership program, answer questions, run events, market to adults, and keep our website working and secure.
  • Our website uses advertising tools from Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest. Under some U.S. state laws this may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or as "targeted advertising". You can opt out with the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of every page, or with a Global Privacy Control signal.
  • Our AI Style Lounge uses Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI to answer signed-in customers.
  • We don't sell personal information for money, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
  • To see, correct or delete your information, email privacy@parkerjoe.com.

4. How we use information

  • To sell and deliver products: process orders and payments, ship, handle returns and exchanges, send receipts and order updates.
  • To run your account and membership: keep your account, apply member discounts, track your membership level and send member benefits.
  • To help you: answer questions by email, chat and phone, and book store visits.
  • For the AI Style Lounge: generate styling suggestions, remember preferences you ask it to save, and keep the service safe (see section 5).
  • To run events: manage guest lists and waitlists, and send reminders to members.
  • To hire: review applications and contact applicants.
  • For marketing to adults: send emails to people who signed up, show our ads on other websites and apps, and measure whether our marketing works.
  • To understand and improve our website through analytics.
  • To keep things secure: prevent fraud, spam and misuse, and protect our customers, staff and business.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax records, and to respond to lawful requests.

We don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Our providers use automated tools to screen for fraud and spam — for example, Shopify may briefly block payment attempts that look fraudulent.

5. Our AI Style Lounge

The Style Lounge is an AI stylist for signed-in customers, powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Its answers are generated by AI and can be wrong; please check product details before you buy.

  • What we send to Anthropic: your message, the recent conversation, your first name, your membership level, preferences you've asked the stylist to remember, and short, filtered notes from your Lounge conversations in the last 30 days. We don't filter your message before it is sent, so please don't include personal details about your child or anyone else.
  • What we send to OpenAI: a short product-search phrase the AI writes from your request, without your name or account details, to match it against our catalog.
  • What we keep: a filtered copy of each message and reply for 30 days, then it is deleted automatically; and any preferences you ask the stylist to remember, until you ask us to delete them or your account is deleted.
  • Children: the Lounge is for adults. If someone says they're under 13, it stops and asks for a grown-up.

Full details are on our Children's Privacy page.

Store chat. Our website chat runs on Shopify Inbox. Replies may be suggested or written by Shopify's AI tools, and our team can review the conversation. Shopify handles these messages for us as a service provider (see section 7). Please don't share personal details about your child in chat.

6. Cookies, pixels and similar technologies

We, Shopify and our analytics and advertising partners use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies on our website.

Type What it does Who provides it
Necessary Keeps your cart, checkout and sign-in working, remembers your privacy choices, and protects our forms from spam Shopify (including hCaptcha spam protection on forms)
Analytics Shows us how people use our website so we can improve it Shopify and Google Analytics
Advertising Lets Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest show our ads to people who visited our website (retargeting), find similar adult shoppers, and measure our ads Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (Google Ads and Google Merchant Center), TikTok, Pinterest
Features and content Live chat, pop-up messages and our Instagram feed Shopify Inbox, Poptin, Instafeed

What the advertising tools collect. Pages and products you view, searches, items added to your cart, checkouts and purchases, with your IP address, browser and device details and cookie identifiers. When you're signed in or check out, we may also share your email address, phone number, name and address, usually in hashed (scrambled) form, so these companies can match activity to their users and measure our ads. These companies also use this information under their own privacy policies.

Your choices

  • "Your Privacy Choices." Use the link at the bottom of every page to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising for your current browser.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as that same opt-out for the browser.
  • Your browser and ad accounts. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and adjust your ad preferences with Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest. You can also install Google's opt-out add-on for Google Analytics (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
  • Do Not Track. Browsers' "Do Not Track" setting has no agreed standard, so we don't respond to it; we do honor Global Privacy Control as described above.

Opting out stops these tools from being used for targeted advertising from that browser. It doesn't turn off necessary cookies, and you may still see ads from us that aren't based on your activity on our website.

Other companies' tracking over time. The advertising companies above can collect information about your activity on our website and combine it with your activity on other websites and apps over time.

7. How we share information

We share personal information with:

  • Service providers that work for us and may use it only to provide their services: Shopify (online store, checkout, Shop Pay, Point of Sale, customer accounts, Shopify Inbox, Shopify Email and form spam protection); payment processors (such as Shopify Payments, Shop Pay and PayPal); shipping carriers (such as USPS, UPS and FedEx); Anthropic and OpenAI (AI Style Lounge); Supabase (database for Lounge records, preferences and event RSVPs); Vercel (hosting for the Lounge and RSVPs); Google and Zoho (email for our @parkerjoe.com addresses and store inbox); Poptin (website pop-ups); and Instafeed (Instagram feed on our website). Sendvio (email).
  • Advertising and social media partners — Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest — through the tools described in section 6, and when we list our products in their shopping services.
  • Other companies at your direction, for example when you pay with PayPal or Shop Pay, or buy through our shops on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest or Google.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety and property of ParkerJoe, our customers or others.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of our business, subject to this policy.

We do not share job applications with anyone other than our email and form providers.

8. "Sale", "sharing" and targeted advertising

We don't sell personal information for money. However, allowing Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest to collect information through the advertising tools on our website, and using it to show you ads on other websites and apps, may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising", under some U.S. state privacy laws.

In the past 12 months we have made the following available to these advertising and social media companies:

  • Identifiers: cookie and device identifiers, IP address, and — when you're signed in or check out — hashed email address, phone number, name and address.
  • Commercial information: products viewed, added to cart and purchased, and order values.
  • Internet activity: pages visited, searches and how you interact with our website.

How to opt out: use the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of any page, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email privacy@parkerjoe.com.

We don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and we don't sell or share sensitive personal information.

We don't offer a financial incentive or price difference in exchange for not opting out.

9. How long we keep information

Information How long we keep it
Account, order and in-store purchase records While your account is open, and afterward for as long as we need them for tax, accounting, warranty and legal purposes — generally 7 years after the purchase
Payment information Kept by our payment processors under their own policies; we don't store full card numbers
Membership records While your membership or account is active
Marketing email list Until you unsubscribe; we keep a record of your unsubscribe so we don't email you again
AI Style Lounge conversation records (filtered copy) 30 days, then deleted automatically
AI Style Lounge saved preferences Until you ask us to delete them or your account is deleted
Event RSVPs Deleted within 12 months after the event
Job applications Up to 12 months from when you apply, then deleted
Customer-service messages (email, chat, contact forms) As long as we need to help you, and generally no longer than 24 months
Privacy requests 24 months, to show how we handled them
Website, analytics and advertising data Held by Shopify, Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest under their retention settings and policies; our Google Analytics retention is set to 14 months
Server logs for the Lounge and RSVP service A few days

When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

10. Your privacy rights and choices

Choices everyone has

  • Marketing emails: unsubscribe with the link in any email, or email us.
  • Targeted advertising: see section 6 ("Your Privacy Choices" link, Global Privacy Control).
  • Your account: you can view and update your details by signing in.

Rights we offer to all U.S. residents

Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to:

  • confirm whether we have personal information about you and give you a copy of it (in a portable format where practical);
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your information (we may need to keep some records, such as order records needed for tax or legal purposes, and we'll tell you if so);
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising; and
  • appeal if we decline your request.

We won't treat you differently for using these rights — for example, we won't deny you products or charge you a different price.

How to make a request

  • Email privacy@parkerjoe.com with the subject line "Privacy request", or write to us at the address in section 17.
  • For opt-outs, you can also use the "Your Privacy Choices" link or Global Privacy Control.
  • We'll confirm your identity before we act — usually by replying to the email address on your account and, if needed, asking for an order number.
  • You can use an authorized agent. We'll ask for your signed permission and may confirm your identity with you directly.
  • We aim to respond within 30 days. If we need more time, as the law allows, we'll tell you why.
  • Appeals: if we decline your request, reply to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll respond within 60 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general (Texas: texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection; California: oag.ca.gov/privacy).

California residents. California law gives you the rights above (to know, correct, delete and opt out of sale or sharing) and the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We don't use sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you the right to limit its use. This policy describes the categories of information we collect (section 3), their sources (section 3), our purposes (section 4), who we share it with (sections 7 and 8) and how long we keep it (section 9).

Texas residents. Texas law gives you the rights above, including the right to appeal. We don't sell sensitive personal data.

Nevada residents. You may ask us not to sell your covered information. We don't sell covered information as Nevada law defines "sale", but you can still send a request to privacy@parkerjoe.com and we'll record it. You can review and ask us to change the information we hold about you by signing in to your account or emailing us.

11. Children

Our website and services are intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy from us online. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email privacy@parkerjoe.com and we'll delete it. Our Children's Privacy page explains how we handle sizes and other information that parents share about children, our AI Style Lounge, advertising tools and photos.

12. Job applicants

If you apply for a job, we collect the information you submit on our careers page — name, email, phone number, preferred store, availability, whether you're authorized to work in the U.S., your experience, anything you choose to tell us, and any resume or profile link you share. You must be 18 or older to apply. We use it only to review your application and contact you about it. Applications are delivered to our store email inbox through Shopify and our email provider. We never sell or share applicant information for advertising. We keep applications for up to 12 months from when you apply, then delete them. To see or delete your application, email privacy@parkerjoe.com.

13. Event RSVPs

When you RSVP to one of our events, we collect your name and email address (or use your account if you're signed in), the event, and how many people are coming (up to six). We never ask for children's names or ages. We use RSVPs to plan the event and manage the guest list and waitlist, and — for signed-in members — to send a reminder email. Guests who RSVP without an account aren't added to our email list. To limit spam, we record a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address; we don't store the IP address itself. RSVPs are stored with Shopify and our database provider, Supabase, and deleted within 12 months after the event.

14. Text messages

We don't send marketing text messages today. If we start, we'll ask for your separate consent first and update this policy.

15. Security and international visitors

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information — for example, encrypted connections, access controls, and limiting who can see customer data. Our AI and RSVP service checks that requests really come from our store before it responds. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can't guarantee security.

We're based in the United States and our website is for U.S. customers. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, whose laws may differ from those where you live.

16. Changes to this policy

We'll post any changes here and update the "Last updated" date. If we make a significant change, we'll also notify account holders by email or with a notice on our website before the change takes effect.
